Q1) What is your coaching philosophy?
Push limits and make waves. Stay injury free.
Q2) How do you structure your lessons i.e. what can a student expect during a typical coaching session with you?
I usually start by asking the students if there’s any particular area they’d like help with. If not, I focus on ensuring their fundamental skills are consistent and solid before moving on to more scenario-based training.
Q3) What is a non-negotiable Pickleball stroke/skill that you believe every student must/should learn and master?
Higher shot tolerance meaning can stay in the rally longer.
Q4) How do you maintain patience with students who may take longer to grasp concepts? Would you tell a student that Pickleball may not be for him/her?
Not at all. Everyone learns at a different pace, and some people simply need more time to understand certain concepts. Often, the biggest challenge is a lack of confidence in themselves, so I try to help them build that belief first.

Q5) Tell us about a rewarding/memorable moment where a student of yours made you proud?
I’m actually quite easily satisfied, although many people think it’s difficult to get a compliment from me. When I see students putting in extra effort and taking the initiative to drill during their free time, I’m already very proud of them. Achieving a podium finish is really just an added bonus.
Q6) What advice would you give Pickleball enthusiasts who may be considering Coaching as a side-hustle or a full-time gig?
I believe coaches should first be able to execute the drills and techniques themselves. Learning from online resources is easy, but without going through the process personally, it can be difficult to effectively explain and teach those concepts to students. That’s why I feel coaches should always lead by example, whether it’s by competing in competition or continuously working to improve and develop their own skills.
